Public Art Strategy for the Sydney Metro Northwest (SMNW)

Public Art Strategy for the Sydney Metro Northwest (SMNW)

Turpin+Crawford Studio, in collaboration with McGregor Westlake Architecture (MWA) and Hassell Studio, developed the Public Art Strategy, Light Line Social Square for the Sydney Metro Northwest (SMNW). It proposes a line-wide, station-specific public art project integrated into the architecture, landscape and program of the station public domains and platforms.

The strategy develops themes conceptually based in memory and place to meaningfully embed the eight new stations in the rapidly developing region. Light Line Social Square proposes an innovative and nuanced approach that engages environment and light and time to deliver cumulative and everchanging experiences across the day, seasons and years. It will develop the stations of the Northwest as places of delight and respite, belonging and engagement for the commuters and communities of Sydney’s northwest.
