Circumference | Concept

Slowly swinging back and forth through ever increasing arcs, Circumference’s 12 metre long pendulum–like arm builds languid momentum to finally scribe complete circles in the air. Suspended from twin columns 9 metres above a dark reflection pool, the long, thin counterbalanced arm draws perfect geometry through space.

Like a quill dipping into ink, its tip barely breaks the surface of the water as it repeatedly brushes the pool through the lowest point of its arc. Each watery caress fleetingly illuminates the base of the swinging arm in a flush of rosy glow.

Playing hypnotically with our senses its mesmerising motion engages both mind and body in moments of unexpected urban reverie.
