Kin: Flora Fauna

We are all ‘Kin’ in the biota. Encouraging connection to our multi species environment Kin: Flora Fauna invites us to see humans as animals, part of the fauna and therefore part of nature. 60 artwork images incised into circular discs appear to ‘float’ amidst plants in the landscape at Ravenswood School For Girls. Way-finding markers along the 800 metre “Well Being Walking Path” launched in 2023, each disc presents a unique hybrid image fusing non-human animal, plant and human-animal forms. Discs are installed near native plants part of whose story they illuminate. Some incorporate indigenous stories, the history and mottos of the school or scientific biological facts.

Staff, students and visitors to Ravenswood can follow the path and contemplate the myriad of lifeforms that co-exist in the landscape around them.

In keeping with principles of sustainability the images are incised in recycled plastic material.
